Michael Mandel is the Co-Founder and CEO of CompStak, which he launched with Vadim Belobrovka in 2012. The premise: real estate transaction data that only exists in brokers' filing cabinets doesn't help anyone make good decisions. CompStak fixes that.

The company aggregates lease comps, sale comps, property data, and market intelligence across hundreds of U.S. markets — making it available to the brokers, appraisers, researchers, investors, lenders, asset managers, governments and consultants who actually need it. CompStak has grown to 150+ people across New York, LA, Chicago, Atlanta, and Belgrade, Serbia.

Originally from Cherry Hill, NJ and the youngest of five children, Michael is a Babson College and eTower alum. He speaks on data, proptech, and transparency in CRE at places like MIT, Wharton, and Columbia. He's been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Bloomberg Businessweek, and has appeared on NPR and Fox Business.

He also selectively advises and invests in early-stage startups, with a particular soft spot for founders who are building something the incumbents insist doesn't need to be built.

Michael is married to Jenna, and together they have two daughters, Alice and Rosie. The household also includes Squeakers, a Maltipoo (and the quintessential grumpy old man) and Kugel, a Cavapoo whose pastimes include harassing Squeakers, chasing birds, and being afraid of loud noises, sudden movements, and most people.

He plays pickleball religiously and is insistent that any weakness in his play can be solved by a new paddle. He's a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan — #gobirds — which has more than any business school curriculum — prepared him for the emotional volatility of running a startup.

He loves summer vacations on Nantucket, warm weather, islands and beaches of all kinds, his family, any do-it-yourself project, gardening, driving with the top down, and chocolate chip cookies.
